Explorers for Teens - LIMITED SPACE!
Ages: 12-14
Enrollment Limit: 50 kids
NEW LOCATION! Thataways Youth Center
Teens will participate in unique activities ranging from kayaking adventures to overnight camp outs and educational trips.

  • North Park in Motion @ Mayco Bigelow Community Center
  • Park Rides @ the Burlington City Park
  • CLAWS, Inc. Wildlife Presentation @ the Paramount Theater

  • Putt Putt Golf & Games
  • Swimming twice a week @ the Maynard Aquatic Center
  • Wet 'n Wild Emerald Pointe (additional cost)

Each camp offers a unique and individual camp experience to participants.  Your child will enjoy exciting adventures outdoors, organized games, field trips, and tons more with a caring and responsible staff to lead the way!  Space is limited.  Burlington Recreation & Parks also has a few site updates for 2015 with the addition of the St. Mark’s and Forest Hills locations, as well as a new home base for Explorers at Thataways Youth Center.  The Thataways (Overbrook II) Camp for ages 5-12 has moved to St. Mark’s.  

To Register:

Summer Camp registration begins February 2, 2015 at the Burlington Recreation & Parks Main Office. Campers must register at the Main Office and present proof of current residency.  Weekly campers must pay at least one week to secure a space.  Daily Drop-In campers must pay at least 3 days to secure a space.  Space is limited. Summer Camps Open House

Thataways Youth Center 
Are you ready for summer?  Join Burlington Recreation & Parks for the Summer Camps Open House!  Families are invited out to learn more about the 2015 Summer Camps and youth programs.  Meet the awesome Camp Directors and check out the Explorers camp site.  There are seven day camp sites to choose from and weekly specialty camps!  This open house is for families looking for a fun place for their kids this summer, as well as for campers who have already registered to gather even more information.  Families can also enjoy their favorite board games and purchase refreshments.  Kids will have the chance to play Plinko for the chance to win a summer themed prize!  Prizes are limited.  


Summer Time Playground (STP)
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (5 weeks)

North Park and Robinson Park
Burlington Recreation and Parks and the Alamance County Community YMCA will co-sponsor the five-week Summer Time Playground Program (STP). This program will promote various activities and some field trips. Staff will work with local agencies to promote smart and wise youth.
