The primary responsibility of every Burlington Police Officer is the protection of life and property and by virtue of his or her position; he or she fills a vital role in the well being of the community. While effective police techniques and modern equipment are more important factors in the continuing struggle against crime, the driving force in crime suppression is the individual police officer.
What can you expect upon being appointed? Upon qualifying and being appointed as a police officer, you will be assigned for training and to one of the Operations Bureau teams. New officers are assigned to a Field Training Officer for a period of 60 working days, during which they receive intensive training. In this program, you will become acquainted with and learn the fundamental phases of police work and procedures of the Burlington Police Department.
